Papers [manuscript]. 1960-1965.

The collection contains research notes and typescripts by Barbara Thorn. She began the research for the proposed biography at the request of Bishop Burgmann in the early 1960s. In the mid-1960s, Thorn abandoned the project. The papers were given to Peter Hempenstall in 1985 and his book, entitled: "The meddlesome priest: a life of Ernest Burgmann", was published by Allen & Unwin in 1993.

Burgmann, Ernest, 1885-1967

Burgmann was ordained as an Anglican priest in 1912, was Warden of St. John's College, Armidale, 1918-1925, and became Bishop of Goulburn in 1934. He was Bishop of Canberra and Goulburn, 1950-1960.
